Arion was too young to remember his parents when they died, leaving him in the care of his older brother. For the first few years of life, the two lived as they could in the war-torn land of Aeccorida. They got by until they were discovered by one of the nobles of the land. He took Falz and Arion in, although he mistrusted Falz’ sorcerer’s abilities. He taught Arion how to run a fief and how to use a sword - and eventually named Arion his heir. When Arion was fourteen his father died, and the young noble quickly set about working toward mending the sorrows he had seen wandering the countryside as an orphan.
At first, Arion was unsure wether the other nobles would agree to working together to strengthen Aeccorida, but he soon found that many nobles were more than willing to work together - they were willing to make him their king! At the urging of the nobles, Arion worked hard to unite not only the nobles of his fiefs, but to unite the whole of Aeccorida as it had not been in over a century. He succeeded, and the other nobles proclaimed him not High King, but Emperor. Part of him knew they had proclaimed him ruler because they thought him young and easily manipulated, but Arion knew better than that.
Shortly after his coronation, he fell ill. He thought he was going to die, and asked Falz to take over for him if he did, but instead Falz found someone capable of healing his illness. The Mystic Hassai cured him of his illness and also awakened psionic powers which had lain latent inside Arion all his life. However, that was not all he did. Hassai also bound him to the powers of the sorceress Rii and her commands, as well as intentionally destroying any inhibitions the boy had about killing or destroying to come to his goal: the unification not only of Aeccorida, but of the continent, and when Hassai gave the signal - Earth as well!
Upon recovering, Arion - or Emperor Po-Kahn, as he came to call himself - declared war on the neighboring country of Fanardis. Once Fanardis looked liked it had been defeated, he turned his sights to the other neighbor of Laconia, as well as within to find ways to keep the united continent under his boot heel. Forgotten was the peace that he had once craved, forgotten was the justice - now tyranny reigned in the boy’s mind, save for a few moments when Rii’s power over him failed, and Arion was once again Arion.
It was during one of those brief moments Arion met the means of his salvation. Intent on assassinating the tyrant Emperor, the Fanardians were surprised to find a confused young man of nineteen. They were also surprised by the young man’s abrupt change in personality. They were not surprised, however, to find the sorceress Rii present at the time. After killing Rii, Arion was freed from at least some of the bonds placed on him by Hassai.
He still faced for his death, and still was partially under the influence of Hassai, but in King Cyrrus’ kingdom he was saved by the last person he would have imagined: Princess Ariellis of Fanardis. He stayed in the care of King Cyrrus while Airi and the others returned to Earth. After Hassai’s defeat, Airi and Cyrrus were able to fully restore Arion’s memory and emotions to their proper state. During his recovery, none was kinder to him than the Princess. In her, he saw the key to his dreams. With her help, he was able to restore that which he had destroyed. Finally, he asked her to marry him, uniting the lands of Fanardis and Aeccordia. Airi agreed, and they rule now, as such rulers the continent has not seen in over a hundred years.
