At an early age, it was discovered that the young man named Falz was a sorcerer. He and his younger brother - Arion - were orphans in the land of Aeccorida. They were taken in by one of the warring Nobles of the country. While their "father" was distrustful of Falz’ abilities, he loved the younger brother. Luckily an old shaman recognized Falz talents as a sorcerer - as well as his innate talent of Necromancy - and trained him. While little Arion was recognized as the Noble’s heir, Falz watched from the shadows, working on his powers. When Arion’s foster father died, making the boy a noble, Falz agreed to help his younger brother make his dream of a peaceful and unified Aeccorida a reality.
Though only fourteen, Arion showed real potential not only as a swordsman but as a ruler. He was intelligent and just, knowing both how to manipulate if need be as well as strike honest bargains to do what he needed to achieve his goals. Other nobles agreed that Arion was the best bet and began to follow him. All the while, Falz watched from the shadows and backed his brother with powerful magic.
Things looked as if they would go according to plan, and soon Aeccorida would be headed toward a bright a future, and then all of a sudden Arion fell ill. Rumors spread that the Dark God disliked what the boy was doing and had created the illness, for no healer could cure it. One day, Falz happened upon a strange man sitting on the river bank. He said he was a Mystic and that he could help his brother. True to his word, the Mystic did heal the boy. He also Awakened some latent powers that the boy had - metaphysical talents most mages would never think to check for. He stayed with Arion until the boy was well, teaching him battle strategy and the use of his powers. When Arion was again strong, he left without accepting any payment.
However, it soon occurred to Falz that the Mystic had awakened other things in his younger brother as well. He was becoming more aggressive than he had ever been, and was dominating toward those he had never asserted himself strongly against before. Falz disliked the changes, but many of the nobles backing the campaign did, and by that time it was too late to do things without their consent.
So Falz volunteered to take on the burden of leading the attacks on the other countries himself. He donned the cloak of fear and hatred, welding his Death Magic while secretly allowing certain key people to escape in hopes that they might be able to stop what he could not. While invading other counties, Falz continually searched for ways to cure his brother’s growing madness, or to find a way to remove him from the influence of the other Aeccordian nobles so he could clean the slate and create the Empire of his brother’s original vision.
One such chance lay in Princess Ariellis, Falz knew. She had the power to Unseal the power of laylines, and if she would unseal one particular power point in the Caves Falz knew he would gain the strength to stop his brother’s mad scheme. To this end, he followed her and her (many) companions into the caves. Falz knew that he would need the help of the Fanardians to activate the sleeping layline, so he saved them from the Wraiths that lived there. Things looked as though they would go according to plan, but the Caves themselves awakened unbidden, evaporating half the Fanardians in a pillar of light. Knowing better than to face the angered Fanardians and the distraught Princess Airi, Falz made a quick escape and continued to look for another way to achieve his goal.
One such chance washed up on shore one day. On the same river bank he had encountered Hassai five years before, a young woman washed up. She was mortally wounded, but Falz was able to heal her. When she awakened, he was surprised to find she was a sorceress, and one of considerable power at that! She explained to him that she was named Naiyami and she had come from a place called Earth. He explained to her about his plight. At his request she agreed to allow the Seals of Aeccorida Awaken her latent abilities, and she would fight alongside Falz to bring about his true goal when the time came.
It was not until they uncovered an old mech did it come out that she had been working for Hassai on Earth, and when Falz told her about his coming five years ago, things began to become clear. Meanwhile, Arion’s madness had become so great Falz was forced to confront him. For his outburst, he was thrown into the dungeon for High Treason. Naiyami rescued him, and she used her powers to send them both to Earth where they would try to stop Hassai from achieving what was clearly becoming his goal.
Falz went to retrieve something called the Devil’s Honor while Naiyami went to face Hassai. While Naiyami was away, Falz was attacked by and badly injured by Seperoth. Not long after, he was discovered and healed by Misao and the others he had met that day in the cave. They told him that the Aeccordian army had been defeated and his brother was in Cyrrus’ care. He agreed to help them stop Hassai, and fought at their side until the bitter end, combining his powers with those of Airi to hold together a dying world.
Much to his own surprise, Falz was resurrected by Hikami along with the others. Though greatly relieved by the return of his brother to a normal state, and overjoyed by the fulfillment of his wish, he had too long been in the shadows to be comfortable in the light. He chose to continue to study sorcery, watching over his brother has he had always done in the past. He also agreed - after some deal of pestering - to take on Misao as a partner. If he regrets this decision, it is not one he has voiced.
