Leonith was the son of a blacksmith who grew up in a small rural village in Fanardis. His father died when he was young, and that left him to be raised by his mother, who also had to support his younger siblings. To ease the burden, when he was twelve he was taken by his uncle Valmus to Fanardis Castle to train in an apprenticeship to become a blacksmith. After moving to the capital, his village was attacked, and Leonith never heard anything more from his mother or siblings. Presuming they were dead, he took to the looking after of Valmus’ foundling, Rhys - whom Valmus explained to Leonith that he was actually his own son!

While Rhys and Airi grew, Leonith saw more about them than they themselves saw. His uncle confided in him things that he could not confide in anyone else. Thus, Leonith’s sense of responsibility for Rhys grew. However, it soon became apparent that Rhys was not the type who liked to be taken care of, so Leonith adopted a position of simply being there when Rhys needed someone to steer him in the right direction and Valmus wasn’t around.

Just before the attack on Fanardis Castle, Valmus told Leonith about a plan to kill King Wilhelm. Partly out of concern for the people and partly out of love for Taimine, Valmus would do the actual act and Aden would be set on the throne. Unfortunately, Aden overheard one of their conversations. Leonith resolved to talk to the Prince in person, but that night Aeccordian attacked. The Prince disappeared, presumably dead along with his parents. The sole heir to Aeccordian was now Ariellis, and to be honest Leonith was glad. Of all her family, she was most suited to rule.

Leonith worked with the refugee from Fanardis Castle both as an armorer and as a cook - the secondary duty was not by choice. Leonith could often be heard tripping over ironware in his tent saying, "I’m a blacksmith, not a cook!". The official excuse was someone who knew how to use a forge could manage a fire, but Leonith always suspected it was because no one else wanted to cook.

One evening, things changed. Leonith was surprised by the arrival of three young women - or was it a man and two women? - in the encampment. Come from another world, the three women had been brought home because it was believed Airi could help them get home. Unfortunately, Airi herself had left the day before to perform a difficult spell.

The three women were all trained in some form of combat. The one with the long purple hair used swords, the one who dressed like a man used an odd weapon she called a "gun" and the third was gifted in magic. They agreed to help Leonith, Rhys, and Loki in a reconnaissance mission into an area near Fanardis Castle. Unfortunately in the eyes of the girls, the scouting mission turned into search-and-destroy.

Rhys and Leonith were captured along with the girls by Rii and Captain Mikal. While in Fanardis Castle, Leonith went off to see if the old armory was still intact and managed to get lost. While the rest of his group was having fun he wandered around. He eventually caught up, and had the difficult task of trying to explain to the newly-arrived Princess Airi why Rhys was dying of wounds which included a severed hand.

After healing her half-brother (though Airi did not know it was her half-brother), and a short series of misadventures - including one which introduced the group to a baby pink chocobo named "Boko" - Airi decided that she would bring the girls to the Caves of Mortia , where legends spoke of a portal which could send them home. While in the cave, the sorcerer Falz appeared and instead of the girls going back to Tokyo alone, Leonith and Rhys went with them.

Tokyo was a strange new world. There Leonith discovered things like cars, guns, and little fun explosive things called grenades. He also met Shion, and Dr. Cid - a tinkerer like himself- who were responsible for brining the girls to Fanardis in the first place. He also met a strange girl named Sora, and an acquaintance of Misao’s named Naiyami - who for some reason reminded Leonith of Airi. A series of misadventures in Tokyo led the group back home - well, Rhys and Leonith back home.

A month passed with normal actions in the Fanardian encampment - with the exception of the disappearance of Princess Airi. During this time, Leonith found himself thinking more and more of the redheaded Midori. Strangely enough, his thoughts were answered by the appearance of the girls themselves! This time, they had brought others not from Fanardis, but from the nearby kingdom of Laconia. They told the Fanardians of what they had seen over the boarder in Aeccordian. In response, there was an ill-fated scouting mission to the Aeccordian encampment, and an even more ill-fated rescue mission after Loki was captured! The latter incident spawned a rescue mission almost as ill-fated as the first, as it revealed Prince Aden to be working for the Aeccordians! In battle he was killed, but came back to life as a black-winged (and insane) Erydine.

Seeing Aden again made him think about what he had done to conspire against the former king of Fanardis. Troubled by this, he confided in Midori about his past and about what might happen in the future. To his utmost relief, Midori didn’t hate him for what he had done. In fact, it almost seemed they had come a little bit closer. It was a fortunate thing he did what he did, because Aden was dead - for good this time - by the end of the next day.

Following Aden’s death the band of Fanardians set about on their final plans - the death of the Emperor of Aeccordian. But even Aeccordia’s leader turned out to be only a pawn in this seemingly endless game. The final clues led them back to Earth - to the man Hassai who started all the trouble in Arcan.

During the battles with Seperoth and Hassai, Leonith fought as bravely as he could, swearing to himself that he would protect Midori and her friends at any cost. The cost turned out to be high; in fighting Hassai he lost his life. Yet thanks to a certain twist of fate, he found himself saved yet again by the actions of the strange girls from another world.

After saving their world - and his - Leonith was in for yet another surprise. Instead of staying in their home, they decided to return to Arcan and Fanardis. There Leonith decided it was time that Midori knew what he felt about her. Though embarrassed at first, he later found she was more than willing to share his love both for Fanardis and on a more personal level.
